December 13th -- Our family's day of Infamny

The day my Mother, Sue Pettit was killed.   By a lady who had an argument with her husband, she ran two red lights and hit my Mother's car.  She was killed on impact.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please
Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

Cemetary where some of my ancestors are buried

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gafloyd2/cem/MidwayCem.html

Link to Midway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery web site---where some of my Redmond and Floyd relatives are buried. It has a listing of the graves there.

My Dad has a brother and a sister that died as children buried there.   One died from food poisoning after eating ice cream at a birthday party.  One died after drinking kerosene that was in a coke bottle that was left sitting around.  The little girl was 5 and the little boy was one.   Both could have probably survived with today's medical advances.
Have a goal to take my Dad there one day to find the graves.

My Uncle Raymond Clyde Pettit---- Gone but not forgotten.

Found in my Dad's basement.. What a sweet sad memory... How did Grandmaw do it??   My Dad asked up to help find a box in his basement that had some photos and his High School year book from his Senior year.   Found the box ... :) and only after about 10 minutes.   This clipping that I scanned in was in the box with other goodies. It is very fragile and worn and the top left corner and top portion were already missing.   I think he died on a ship on the way to hospital in Hawaii.
The Miss Sarah Pettit in the last sentence is my Mother.

I might take after him, I love candy bars....

He was killed in 1944 in the war and is buried in Normandy.
My other Uncle, Clyde was injured on a boat and died in Hawaii (??)  may have that a little wrong.  He is buried in Birmingham in the same Cemetary that Grandmaw Pettit is buried at.

DeShazo Ancesters -- 1605

I was born a Redmond. My Mother was born a Pettit. My Grandmother was born a DeShazo.   Her Grandfather was a William Clinton DeShazo, a Confederate Veteran.  He is buried in Bold Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Shelby County, Alabama.   I can follow the tree back to France and then to Switzerland .. and I guess that is all we will know.   Pretty amazing to be able to trace the family back that far.   All the way to 1605.

I found out that there is a book about my maternal Grand Mother's Paternal Family,  The DeShazo Family of Virginia written by Nancy DeShazo Jennings in 1995. Googled it and there is one in Birmingham, at the Library two hours from me.   H-m-m-m...

William Clinton, father of William Floyd, father of Letitia Launah, Mother of Sarah Carolyn, Mother of Carol Jill (me!!) Mother of TI and EM.

William Clinton DeShazo was the son of Louis II (1802-1868) and 5th gen. descent of JEAN de CHAZEAUX (First American, settled circa 1895)

So would that mean I am 9th generation?? My kids are 10th generation.
